We believe here at Tearmainn Bhride our Nursing Home is a home from home



PlaqueA family operated establishment, Tearmainn Bhride Nursing Home has been a home from home for our residents since 1997. We offer a wide range of long term and short term Care Services to both male and female individuals, who are usually over the age of 65, and pride ourselves on the first class standard of care we provide.

We are committed to increasing the quality of life of all our residents and are well known for the warm and homely environment we offer. A testament to our person-centred approach and high care standards, the majority of our residents hear about us through word of mouth.

Our nursing home is registered to accommodate 29 residents and our care team can provide care from low dependency to maximum dependency.

We operate an open visiting policy within Tearmainn Bhride Nursing Home (excluding meal times) however to protect our residents we ask that all visitors sign in and out on entering and leaving the Nursing Home.

Tearmainn Bhride Nursing Home is situated in Brideswell a popular peaceful rural village in South Roscommon, and offers local access to shops and amenities. We are in close proximity to Athlone, which is just 10 km (15 minute drive) away, where there are a number of amenities that our Residents can visit. Derryglad folk museum is situated 2km away and Hodson Bay (8km), situated on the shores of Lough Ree, boasts a beautiful hotel and is also surrounded by Athlone Golf Club.

We are also just 20 km (23 minute drive) from Ballinasloe and 23 km (25 minute drive) from Roscommon Town. Occasional organised day trips are available for residents. Local schools also provide entertainment occasionally. Where possible, the nursing home will assist in residents’ participating in external activities outside of these arrangements.


Tearmainn Bhride fully supports HIQA’s requirement for our residents access to an independent advocacy services for our residents.

A member of the advocacy team visits the residents on a regular basis and is present for our residents meetings. This person acts a liaison/communicator person between the resident and the nursing home and has been found to greatly assist in achieving mutually beneficial solutions. National Advocacy Programme

Our social and entertainment programme is a very important part of daily life in our home and is headed up by our activities coordinator.

Programme activities include, Movement, Exercise, Music Afternoons, Bingo, Reminiscence Therapy, SONAS Therapy, Book and Newspaper Reading, Knitting, Arts and Crafts, Film Evenings, Outings and interaction with students on FETAC courses and school students on work experience.

Birthday parties are also facilitated, together with our annual Christmas party to which family and friends are always welcome.


We provide a regular pastoral care service on a weekly basis in addition to our weekly religious service. This service provides spiritual and emotional care, and support can be also availed of outside of this arrangement if a resident and or family wishes to.

In addition, one of our staff is a trained psychotherapist/counsellor and is available if any of our residents should or would like to be supported during any emotional challenges they may experience.

Our home cooked meals are revered amongst our residents and menus are specifically designed to meet their nutritional needs.

In addition, our chef consults with residents to ensure that personal tastes are accommodated.

We operate a full HACCP Quality Assurance standard kitchen and residents with special dietary requirements (i.e. diabetes, coeliac and other conditions) are well catered for.
